FINAL CRITIQUE/PORTFOLIOS

IT'S FINAL EXAM TIME!!!

In lieu of an exam, we will have a final critique over the self portraits. You need to bring the following three drawings to the final meeting: 1) the handkerchief 2) the plaster head 3) the self portrait. Also, if you'd like, bring a drink or snack to share with the class. We will have a relaxed and fun final day. I will grade your portfolios immediately after we are done with the critique, and you may pick up your work in the drawing room later that day.

MWF class final critique is: TUESDAY, MAY 4, 10:30-12:30.

MW class final critique is: THURSDAY, MAY 6, 10:30-12:30.

Portfolios for both classes will be graded and available for pickup after 3pm on the day of the critique.

HOMEWORK #7 - Hands

In your sketchbook, in pencil (regular graphite, not charcoal) draw your own hand with as much realistic detail as possible. There should be a range of values from light to dark, which means you might need to use a lamp or another light source for highlights. As you draw, look at your actual hand, not a photo of your hand. And be sure to hold your hand in a comfortable, yet visually interesting position. Crossed fingers will be more interesting to draw and look at than a flat hand (and trust me, it will be easier to draw a hand with some angles or crossed fingers... a flat hand with straight fingers will probably end up looking like a glove.) Here are some examples of hand drawings:
